Chapter 1: Permission, Adventure, Let's Go!


Kannagi Town, Sinnoh.
6:30 AM
Kamatsuki Residence

Ryno (Ree-no) is an 18 year old guy living in Kannagi town.
He’s an herbalist and has his own shop.
He still lives in with his Parents and his little sister.
Ryno spends a lot of time studying bush craft from his father.
Since his tenth birthday Ryno wanted to leave Kannagi town to become a Pokémon trainer, his dad however didn’t allow it because he wanted him to take over his herbal shop.
Little did Ryno know that today might change his whole life…

“Ryno, wake up, father wants to talk to you!”
Ryno slowly rolls over and sees a little person standing in his doorway.
“W-what? Why? Its 6:30 in the morning, which also makes me wonder what you’re doing up Suki?”
“He didn’t tell me. You know dad, he’s being his mysterious self again. Now hurry up, I have the feeling that it might be something special!”
Ryno rolls back to his favorite spot in bed and thinks. “Maybe this might be the day…”


“Kannagi town is a town in the region of Sinnoh. It is a tiny town that preserves the history of Sinnoh and the old ways of life, the center of town has a small shrine that dates back to ancient times. It is the smallest town in the entire region. It is also one of the oldest, and some say the town was there since Sinnoh came to be created. There's no Pokémon Mart in the city, so a pair of old people run a shop out of their house.”


Ryno’s shop is on the other side of town.
His parents always wake up early to open up the shop, because most trainers go through this town in the morning to restock. This is because the town doesn’t have any Inn’s and the Pokémon centers aren’t big enough to sleep at, so they end up spending the night either on Route 210 or 211.
Ryno sees the sun slowly rising above the mountains as he follows the path to his shop.
He enjoys the early morning breeze as he looks up into the sky.
“Everything seems so perfect in the morning”
Ryno sees a group of Pidgey’s flying over.
Ryno smiles and closes his eyes as he walks down the road with a slow pace.

This road, which he has walked before so many times, is always special to him, because every time he walks it, he fantasizes about him being in the Sinnoh league, with his favorite Pokémon team.
Ryno arrives at his shop and opens the door.
“Morning” Ryno says as he walks in.
He looks, as he normally does, around his little shop just to make sure that everything is in place.
He throws his keys and jacket on the counter.”
“Ah good morning son, come and help me with these boxes.” Says a person that walked in from the back door.
“Sure dad…” says Ryno as he sighs.
“We got a new shipment in from Nagisa City so we need to open these boxes and get the trainer kits ready before the store opens up.”
Aside from Herbs, Ryno also sells trainer kits.
Trainer kits are bags that have enough items in it to get you to the next town.
One trainer kit has: 5 potions, 2 awakening and paralyze potions, 1 antidote and handful of berries.
“Oh and by the way, you’re leaving town!” shouts his dad as he puts one of the boxes on the ground.
“Oh bush craft training again!?” asks Ryno as he grabs box from the truck.
“No, you are done with bush craft.” Reply’s his dad while walking out the door.
Ryno stops and looks at his dad. “I don’t understand.”
“Me and your mother had a long chat, and we think it’s about time you leave Kannagi to become a Pokémon Trainer.  She’s waiting for you at the shrine.”

Ryno looks surprised. “A-are you s-serious?!”
Ryno’s dad nods. “Yes, although I still don’t approve it, you are old enough to make your own decisions”
“Whoooohoo!” shouts Ryno out of joy and drops the box.
Because of his excitement, Ryno didn’t see that the box dropped on his dad’s toes.
“R-r-Ryno” says dad while shivering.
Ryno stops and sees his dad turning red, then as he slowly looks down, he sees the box laying on his dad’s foot.
“Oh…sorry..” Ryno apologizes.
“AHHH RYNOOOOOO, IT HURTS AND THE ONLY THING YOU CAN SAY IS: “Oh…sorry..” !?“ screams his dad.
Ryno runs away, and heads to the Town’s Shrine.
“COME BACK HERE!” his dad shouts as he follows, throwing some items towards Ryno.

As Ryno runs, he can only think about one thing:  Catching his favorite Pokémon.
“Arcanine , Eevee, Ivysaur, Pidgeot, Sneasel, Aipom, Larvitar, Gengar, Seadra. I can’t decide, I can’t decide! They are all so awesome!”
Ryno quickly arrives at the Shrine and sees his mom.
“Honey!” shouts Ryno’s mother.
Ryno jumps in his mother’s arms. “Thank you so much mom!”
“You’re welcome, I’m so happy for you!” says his mom who is also full of excitement.
Suki, who also was there, jumps on Ryno’s back.
“My brother is finally going to become a famous trainer!” says Suki out of joy.
“Ho-ho wait wait, famous? I doubt that!” Ryno laughs slightly embarrassed while scratching his head.
“Don’t be so modest, I’ve seen you playing those Pokémon games, you have a level 100 team and nobody in this town could ever defeat you!”
“Haha, it’s just a game though, everything Is different in real life you know.” Ryno explains.

After a couple of minutes, dad arrives at the shrine.
“Everything is set?” asks mother as she puts a backpack on Ryno’s back.
“Yeah yeah, you don’t have to help me mom.” Says Ryno slightly annoyed.
“I’m sorry honey, but that’s just because I’m going to see my children leave today!” says Ryno’s mother.
Ryno stops and dad looks up. “Children?” they both ask.
“Yes, Suki is also going.” Reply’s mother.
“WHAT?!” they both shout.
“Really?! Ooooooooh yay!” Suki screams as she jumps around out of joy.
“She’s only twelve, I wasn’t even allowed to go on that age! That’s not fair!”
“Exactly, I won’t allow her to go!” they both shout at the same time with a grumpy voice.
“Both of you, zip it. Listen honey, things are different nowadays. We are both sorry..” explains mother “No I am not!” interrupts dad.  
Mother throws Suki’s backpack against Dad’s head. “Shut up!” she shouts with a irritated voice, but quickly turns around her frown with a smile and continues.
“We are both sorry that we didn’t allow you to go back when you were younger, but that doesn’t mean we have to make the same mistake again.” Ryno’s mother explains.
Ryno nods and understands “Yeah that’s true..” he says.
“I’ve also decided that the two of you won’t be going with each other.” Mother says.
“W-what” Dad asks while crawling up.
Mom looks at Suki “Now because Suki is younger and the world outside of Kannagi is dangerous, I went to Nagisa to buy you a strong Pokémon from a breeder I know.” Explains mother and gives Suki a Pokéball.
“Go ahead, try it.” Mother says.

“Ooh super duper, alright here it goes, Go Pokémon!” she shouts as she throws the Pokéball into the air. The Pokéball opens and a bright light comes out of it, shaping the monster.
“Miltank-Mil” says the Pokémon.
“Ooooh it’s super cute!!!” she shouts as she cuddles the Pokémon.
“Ah that’s Miltank.” Ryno says.  “If it’s been trained well, it could be a very strong Pokémon”
“I love it mom! Thank you soo much!” says Suki as she cuddles her mom.
“So ehh…where’s my Pokémon mom?” Ryno asks as he bumps against his mother.
Mother smiles and says “I didn’t get you one”
Ryno is shocked.“WHAT!? Why not!?”  he asks.
“You strong and old enough to get your own Pokémon.” Explains Ryno’s mother with a smile.
“Psh that’s so unfair..”  Ryno says disappointed.

They all say goodbye to each other and decide that Dad escort his son out of the town, and Mother brings her daughter to the other side of town.
Few minutes later Ryno follows the path to Route 211 with his dad.
“Looks like you are finally going to leave huh?” asks his Dad.
“Yep, looks that way, still really bummed out that I don’t have a Pokémon.” Ryno says with a frown on his face.
“Awh come on you’ll get one eventually, you should be happy that we are giving you Poké-balls.” His dad says with a shrug.” Throw’s a little duffel bag to Ryno. “Here, catch. There is also a Luxuryball in there with your initials carved in, use that ball to catch your first Pokémon. Oh, and I almost forgot, there also is a Pokédex in the bag, and I don’t have to explain you how you should use it.” His dad explains.
Ryno catches and says “Thanks dad.”
They both stop at the end of town.

“So, this is it.” Ryno says.
His dad nods.
Without saying anything they hug each other.
“Good luck son.” He whispers in his ear.
“Thanks dad.” He reply’s with a tear falling down his cheek.
They both step back from each other, and nod towards each other.
After that they both turn around and walk away.
There are more tears running down from Ryno’s cheeks.
He sniffs, shakes his head and looks into the sky, full of confident and starts with a strict pace.

Not only Ryno’s adventure is starting, but so is Suki’s.
Together with her Miltank they are heading towards Tobari City, hopefully prepared enough to get her first badge.
Ryno is going the opposite way to Hakutai City, with the same goal as Suki.
Their adventure starts now.

8:55 AM
Route 211

Ryno has been walking for almost an hour, and hasn’t yet  run in to any Pokémon.
When he sees a couple plants, he decides to inspect them for berries.
“Let’s see…these are Leppa and Oran plants. Very useful, I can use these to recover my Pokémon with.” Thinks Ryno as he gently pulls out the berries from the plants, but suddenly he hears something behind him.
He slowly turns around and sees a very odd Pokémon.
“Hey isn’t that a Tangela?”
He decides to open his Pokédex to make sure.

Tangela:
“It is shrouded by blue vines. No one has seen the face hidden behind this growth of vines.”

Ryno grabs out his Luxury Ball out of the Duffel bag.
“Well, in games this doesn’t work, but this isn’t a game..” Ryno thinks and he looks at his Luxury Ball with his Initials carved in.
“Alright here goes nothing, Pokéball now!”
Ryno throws the Pokéball towards Tangela, hitting it against its Vines, but it bounces back and a Pokémon comes out of it.
A bright light comes out of the ball.
What could it be…
